About Heritage Clothings

Hi, I’m Yomi — the founder of Heritage Clothings.

I was born and bred in Abeokuta, Nigeria — a city where fabric isn’t just worn, it’s language. Home of Adire, home of the Egba.

My father wasn’t a tailor. But whenever he had his clothes made — Adire, Egba cloth, lace, lining — he’d save the leftovers and have them sewn into something for me. Nothing was wasted. Every offcut became a little dress, a bit of beauty made from love and thrift. That’s where this all started.

By day, I’m a GP here in the UK. Yes, really. Heritage Clothings was born in the space between clinic days and school runs, when I kept searching for Ankara pieces that felt the way those childhood dresses did — rooted, intentional, made with care. When I couldn’t find them, I started making them.

What we make
Traditional African fabrics in contemporary silhouettes — pieces you can wear to a wedding, a meeting, or a Saturday school run without needing to change. Every piece runs UK 8 to UK 22. Free UK shipping on every order.

Heritage, worn every day
To us, heritage isn’t locked in the past. It’s something you wear, carry, and pass on, the way my father passed it to me, one leftover piece of cloth at a time. Welcome. You’re part of the story now.
